And we have a winner. Fantastic day today and the 50k+ word count has been beaten.

NaNoWriMo 2012 is over – two days early. I’ve had highs, lows and frustrating times. It’s been blindingly easy and viciously brutal.

NaNoWriMo – Day #27

Another comfortable day which leaves me a gnat’s whisker away from completing the 50,000 word challenge. It’s getting to the real meat of the story and when the NaNoWriMo is over it still leaves me about 20,000 words to do to complete the desired word count level. Phew.

NaNoWriMo – Day #26

Another reasonable day, today. I had an action scene to write so the minimum daily count was pretty achievable. Should be finished by Wednesday – two days ahead of schedule. Phew, it’s been emotional and tougher than I thought it would be.

NaNoWriMo – Days #19 – #25

OK, a mammoth update here. I’ve been really busy this last week, one thing and another and the highly annoying cough/cold hasn’t helped. Anyway, it’s been a very productive week and I’m on the cusp of successfully completing the NaNoWriMo challenge.

As far as the story is concerned, it’s going very well. Not well for Daniel, you understand, but well in terms of what’s happening. It will need re-working, no doubt about it, but I’m really happy with how it looks at this point.

NaNoWriMo – Days #17 & #18

The plan to take it easy (physically) over the weekend has paid off. I had a nice and relaxed day yesterday – a bit of shopping and a coffee out late morning – and still managed to crank out a good number of words without too much of a problem. And today has been pretty much the same.

The story is going well but even despite a framework to write by it still has gone off at tangents. That’s what I like about writing. It’s good to have a plan but when the characters choose to do something different then you have to let them and deal with it.

NaNoWriMo – Days #15 & #16

Yesterday was a bomb. I had heard that competing in the NaNoWriMo was a gruelling slog and they are not wrong. I think that I’d pushed myself a little too hard trying to get the minimum word count done every day and still do my day job and home life, and I crashed. The sore throat that came on on Wednesday developed into something worse and at one point my voice had gone and breathing wasn’t easy.

It’s still not good but a huge night’s sleep and renewed vigour today meant that I cranked out my best day yet – close on three thousand words. Hopefully, if I take it (physically) easy over the weekend, I’ll be able to do a whole load more and be well up on target.

This writing lark is tough. Let no one tell you otherwise.

NaNoWriMo – Day #14

Again, a bit of a tough day. Had access to a PC at work, but came down with a really sore throat in the afternoon. And I mean really bad. So bad I could barely swallow. Not good. Still, managed to do the minimum, so it’s all good.

That means I’m up on the required minimum average by 1,952 words.

NaNoWriMo – Day #13

Unlucky for some? Maybe, but not for me.

Except that I think there’s a conspiracy going on at work to stop me using the computers. Everyone hot-desks and there aren’t enough PCs for everyone to use one at the same time, so most of what I got written at work was done long hand. Having to re-write later on is really ANNOYING.

Still, I managed to do over-minimum again and left it at a point that’s easy to kick off with tomorrow. I also pushed through a tough scene which is crucial for one of the character’s future actions, and I’m really pleased with the result so far.

NaNoWriMo – Day #12

Tougher day today. I didn’t have time to get any writing done before work and attended a birthday lunch thing so got no writing done then. When I did have the opportunity to get some down there weren’t any computers and had to write longhand.

Anyway, finished now for the night. Just over the minimum daily average done, so happy with that.

NaNoWriMo – Day #11

Had a really good day today – relaxed, easy and stress-free. I even had time to go back over some previous writing and amend. Not edit, but amend. Plus I covered an element in the story which not only reveals some backstory but also includes some fore-shadowing of events yet to come. Mwah, hah, hah.
